As discussed in detail yesterday, it’s time for some Belgian racing. The E3 Prijs Vlaanderen, a one-day Classics race used as a stormy prelude to the Ronde van Vlaanderen, gets the go today and should be live by 9.45 at the absolute latest.

Fabian Cancellara has won the race two years on the trot but faces one of the strongest fields for the E3 in years. He will not be doing the weeekend double, as Gent-Wevelgem is this Sunday. Many other riders, including BMC’s Philipe Gilbert, will start both races in an attempt to build some last minute form before Flanders April 1.

The Volta a Catalunya continues today with more climbing, taking in three categorized climbs before a descent to the line, much like yesterday’s stage. GreenEdge Michael Albisini continues to cling to the race lead after admirably surviving a star-studded attack from the likes of Sammy Sanchez, Denis Menchov, Levi Leipheimer and a host of others in the finale. Rigeberto Uran of Team SKY, one of the instigators of the break, won the sprint after the leaders were caught by a 20 rider strong chase in the final 300 meters.
