The only glimpses we’ve seen of the world champion was on the early slopes of early climbs on mountain stages. But Mark Cavendish has been stewing, waiting, and conserving after his stage win in the first week. After taking his second win of the Tour, he’s quite suddenly become the world’s fastest man again. Ask him, ask most people, he always has been. The precocious Peter Sagan has had his fun, and he’ll have the green jersey on the Champs Elysee. But Cav will leave the Tour and head to the Olympics as a favorite, and don’t you forget it.
