Jens Voigt won at the USA Pro Cycling Challenge. Everyone was pretty darn excited, including more than a few riders in the pro peloton. There isn’t a more liked rider in any race, and no one more daring. After making the breakaway almost daily at the Tour and coming up empty, his solo foray to Beaver Creek was simply legendary. Nearly 70 miles all alone, into a crosswind, all over 9,000 feet above sea level. When the gap hit 5 minutes with just 25km to go, half the peloton gave up and took a natural break. No reason to chase and with only Vande Velde and Vangarderen racing to wear the jersey tomorrow, the pros were smirking as Jens circled back to thank his teammates and give the fans high-fives.
