It all comes down to Pumpkin Pie SuperPrestige for Lauri Brockmiller, Bridgit Widrig , Alex Vanias and Scott Hoffner.
The 2013 Women’s Top Banana Competition is in the books with Lauri Brockmiller narrowly taking the victory on the heels of a gusty Iceman finish Saturday, racing all day with the Top Banana Competition title on the line. While it may not have been on her mind, she briefly lost the lead to storming Hagerty teammate Bridgit Widrig. “La Petite Princess” rode to an 8th place on the day, just behind Sue Stephens and a short ways ahead of Brockmiller in 13th.
The gap is down to just three points for Brockmiller, with Widrig a safe 20 points clear of third place Mackenzie Woodring. The Einstein Racing phenom went for third place on the day, grabbing a huge bunch of points to vault onto the Banana podium. Sue Stephens will hold fourth, with Amanda Schaap ending her season early but keeping fifth after a great season.
The Men’s race is even closer. After so many races, so many months, somehow Alex Vanias and Scott Hoffner are separated by just two points. There’s just one race left, and while both Brockmiller and Widrig are TC natives, Vanias and Hoffner are out of towners. They will have access to the Official Spare Bedroom of kolo t.c. should they venture north on December 1, and they are probably both legally obligated to do so. (Please publicly pressure them to do so)
To heighten the drama, the points of the Competition at Pumpkin Pie SuperPrestige will be 5, -1 to the top five. Basically, it’s winner take all.
