Speed of Light WorldTour: Team Time Trial

Norte

The WorldTour takes center stage tomorrow night with the second edition of the Team Time Trial.

Each team’s third fastest time will count on the board for points, with Einstein Racing-Short’s Brewing looking to retain the title after a dominant performance in 2015. Their approach may be hesitant, with nearly half of their SOL contingent expected to take the start at Saturday’s Cherry-Roubaix. They’ll lean heavily yet again on the hero of last week, Luke Tjosvold, to take up the pace making.

M22 will be making a concerted effort, with Sean Kickbush, Keegan Myers and Matt Myers making their first appearances in two months in support of heavy race favorite Jorden Wakeley. They could be the team to beat, with only Kickbush harboring any reserves for Saturday’s 86 mile race.

Hagerty will no doubt find itself weighted on the shoulders of Susan Vigland, Rob Goeprich, Todd Vigland and TJ Jenema, led by Josh Zelinski. They certainly have a deep squad, and they’ve proved their capable of getting on the same page at the Tour, where they rallied to deliver Rob to a second Best Old Rider win.

miniSOL hits the TTT night as well, with Norte under pressure. They were non-existent at the Tour, and for team boss Ty Schmidt to stay happy, they need to deliver some results. Watch for Hagerty’s Jean sisters to impress again, while the Kochis Kids have made steady improvement and have the familial resolve to set down a serious time.

As the SOL season hits its swansong, two time winner Cody Sovis proves yet again how little life he has, sitting just shy of 200 points with two WorldTour nights, a three-week Vuelta and World Championship yet to survive. John O’Hearn sits second, with Tour winner Ryan Kennedy making the biggest jump up the standings. Jorden Wakeley, too, is moving on up to the East Side, and if he nails the next few weeks, certainly stands a chance to topple the WorldTour crown.
