2020 TdF Superlatives

Best smile. Most Likely To Succeed. We’re changing up the superlatives from your high school yearbook and giving the nods to the best riders from the Tour!

We really, really need a Tour de France, didn’t we? And what a Tour it was. As if to set the tone, Stage One’ offered up a surprise winner in Alexander Kristoff, and just about nothing went to script aside from the almost inevitable dominance of Primoz Roglic and Team Jumbo-Visma.

In the opening days, we knew Sagan would win green. He didn’t. We knew Egan Bernal would be the biggest challenger against Roglic. In the end, he wasn’t. We thought Ineos Grenadiers and Team Jumbo-Visma would offer up a US vs. Soviet Union showdown…it wasn’t much of a fight.

And if the racing wasn’t exciting enough, we also got a chance to see the latest and greatest from Trek, BMC, Specialized, and more, which already has got this intrepid reporter saving up for 2026 when I might be able to buy one of those bikes second, third, or fourth hand.

Share your favorite rides, favorite riders, and the most impressive debuts from the 2020 Tour.
