Scroll through the 2022 Iceman Cometh Challenge results and you’ll see plenty of tight finishes, but few were closer than Alexis Skarda’s first-ever Iceman win. Alexey Vermeulen pocketed his second Iceman on what turned out to be a beautiful day, despite the ominous forecast.

The 33 year old from Grand Junction, Colorado found just a single second in the end, edging out Savila Blunk as the pair held off 2021 champion Rose Grant a further 22 seconds back. For Skarda, it’s the first Ice Trophy win after entering Saturday’s race under the radar.
Paige Onweller let the Michigan charge with 4th, backed up by Julie Medema (6th), Emma Schwab (7th), Jaqueline Larouche (8th), and Heather Compton (10th).

Men’s Iceman Pro Race Results
Alexey’s second Iceman win was similar to his first, going clear and holding a gap while the strong chase behind dithered. When the indecision turned to fury behind, the chasers blew into ones and twos, with only a few groups larger than five riders in contact.
Brayden Johnson and Riley Amos rounded put the podium, with Tyler Orschel and Bradyn Lange sliding into the top five.
Kyan Olshove, Traverse City’s top finisher, put in the best ride of his young career for 6th, finishing just ahead of a trio of established pros and past Iceman winners, Brian Matter, Cole Paton and Kerry Werner. Jorden Wakeley capped off the top 10, just seconds ahead of yet another local, Garret Jenema.
