Friday Night Lights For Father Fred

After crock pots, we’re going to feed some folks who need it with Father Fred.

Friday Night Lights is in full winter swing, and if you haven’t hop on board, you better. Even with temperatures in the low-to-numb-bits-single-digits, you’re still going to find two or three dozen nut jobs showing up at Timber Ridge each and every Friday night at 6:30. It’s an event that has offered a chance for riders of all abilities to come together, meet new people, explore the Winter Sports Singletrack, and eat some darn good dishes.

Next Friday, we’re going to share the love a little bit. After getting tons of attention and an outpouring of generous support, local food pantries tend to get overlooked just as they need support the most. Families all over northern Michigan rely on resources like Father Fred for everything from food to winter clothing, and this time of year, they need all they can get. Kerri Hagan is calling on everyone to donate non-perishable food, lightly used winter coats, mittens, gloves and boots for children and adults, and basic hygiene products. She’s going to take everything we donate to Father Fred on behalf of the Friday Night Lights community after the ride on Friday, January 25.

Even if you can’t make the ride, swing by between 6:30 and 8:30 to drop off what you can to support the cause. We’d love to have you ride with us for any distance fat bike ride you feel like; you can also skate or classic ski from the cozy Timber Ridge Lodge and swing back for the weekly potluck. Bring donations if you can, a dish to pass if you feel like it, and don’t forget to stash that spirit of adventure in your back pocket, too.
