In 2019, our amateur bike team is getting a little bit bigger. We’re adding Power Forward and mountain bike specialist Jeff Socia, also known as Melissa’s husband, to the KREW. Jeff is one of the nicest dudes in the woods, has an excellent attitude about this whole bike racing thing, and is just a great person to have wearing the red, yellow, and black.

Jeff is exactly what we’re looking for when we’re looking for more people to match us kit-wise at bike races; endlessly positive, ceaselessly kind, and has a good attitude win, lose, or DFL. Get to know Jeff a little bit better by checking out our Team Questionnaire below.

Welcome to the team, Jeff! He’s on #HOTTT on the ‘gram and you can follow him on Strava, too.

Jeff! Why do you ride bikes?

Freedom. Sense of accomplishment. Getting lost in the moment. Riding with friends. Meeting new friends. I want to live longer. Did I say sense of accomplishment yet?

Who is your favorite riding partner?

My wife of course. (Ed. note - good answer)

What’s your favorite bike race each year?

That's a tough one but I am partial to MSB. That was the one my first year in TC watching my wife and everyone in the biking community in TC finish and thinking to myself that I could never do that. I asked Melissa as we were leaving if she thought I could ever do it. But after that there are so many good ones. I love M22 challenge. Trails Fest. Barry. Iceman. And Peak2Peak of course.

I hear you’re literate. What’s the best book you’ve ever read?

I love reading. One that I really enjoyed was The Rum Diary. Hunter S Thompson. As far as an athletic based one. How Bad Do You Want It. Matt Fitzgerald.

What’s a charity you’d like to help out?

Norte, but also the Women’s Shelter.

If you could have dinner with anyone, living or dead, who would it be?

I'd take a dinner with my Dad again anytime. I'm sure he'd love to see what I've been up to and where my life has led me.

What are you looking forward to doing on a bicycle in 2019?

Keep having fun.
