The final race of the 2012 Cross the Bay Cyclocross Series is almost here. Where do YOU rank?

After three months of high-speed action, the first year of Cross the Bay is almost in the books. From Breezeway to Northmen to Civic Center Cross, it’s been a great series of ‘cross from Einstein Cycles and North Country Cycle Sport.

The points race has been pretty close, but with co-leader Jorden Wakeley sitting out the third race the door swung wide open for John Cowan to run away with it. BISSELL’s Mike Anderson made the trip over to race in Traverse City. Einstein fielded a strong squad but couldn’t manage to break onto the podium. Cowan, however, didn’t have quite enough to take the full points haul behind Mike Anderson and teammate Chad Wells.

Kim Chapman didn’t show for Algoma, and Einstein took the opportunity to take full points with the Queen Mum, Johanna Schmidt. Behind Schmidt waltzed in Chelsea Strate, moving up the overall after great rides at Civic Center and Northmen Cross.

The Men’s B is completely loaded, and with Einstein Racing’s John Leach still looking for an upgrade, he stayed down in B to try and take full points. He definitely got a workout in, though, with Steve Andriese singlespeeding alongside Leach before being disqualified for excessive aerodynamics. Ryan Bolin, Chris Kushman and Ross Gibbs all had a lot to gain with strong rides, and gathered up some valuable points at Civic Center Cross #1.

Einstein Racing looked to be well behind NCCS in the team competition but with another home race left they may catch back up with a strong local showing. Hagerty had the best improvement in the first TC race, with Craig Webb, Michelle Howard, Jake Ellis and a whole slew of racers taking the start line.
