2013 Cross the Bay Points Standings: The Women Take The Lead

NCCS’ Tina Dominic and Latitude 45’s Bobbie Liegl will be hoping Jorden Wakeley is napping on December 1.

It’s a wonder to think that the Cross the Bay Cylocross Series could be decided by how much turkey Jorden Wakeley eats at Thanksgiving. He’s still the only rider with perfect points, but after skipping Crystal Cross this past Sunday, he’s opened the door for the women to take the win. Bobbie Liegl has won two races after coming in second to Kim Chapman in the series debut, which means she can still try for the overall and the race victory at December 1’s Pumpkin Pie SuperPrestige. However, she’ll need to win that ahead of Tina Dominic, who’s been improving every stop of the series.

With Kim Chapman lacking a third race towards the points, she’s going to be in spoiler mode when she brings her Algoma Bicycle Co. team back to Traverse City in December. It’ll fall to Jorden Wakeley to show up and win to seal the deal, but that may not be as easy as it sounds-or how he’s made it look at Breezeway Cross and Northmen Cross. He’s had a long season, and he’ll be up against Chad Wells, John Cowan, Jason Lowetz and likely every other rider capable of  riding non-stop for 60 minutes after November 2.

The final race of the series brings it all back to the Grand Traverse Civic Center, where cyclocross first starting hopping over barriers and heckling in Northern Michigan. Registration is open.

Here are the standings, again in no particular order ’cause spreadsheets suck.
