The 2022 Short’s Brewing Fat Bike Series wraps up Saturday, February 26 at Timber Ridge.
As has become a tradition here in Northern Michigan, the fat bike season comes to a close with a hotly-contested and altogether cool race at Timber Ridge. With the Series looking to come down to a (handle)bar fight between City Bike Shop’s Kyan Olshove and Freewheeler Eric Langley, there are plenty of rides looking to steal a win or a podium in the Series finale.
Both racers are expected to take the start line next weekend. While Kyan is the favorite, holding a 20 point lead, this is a course that certainly suits the very powerful Eric Langley.
On the Women’s side, Annabel Miller is already confirmed, as is Katherine Droese and Allyson Schultz.
The 2022 Huma Loopa Licious Course
There is perhaps no more spectator-friendly event, with a short lap that sees racers come through a spirited (and well lubricated, as it were) start/finish cheering section. Combining short and sharp singletrack sections and wide-open campground roads to pace, it’s a bit of a cyclocross-on-snow experience that is a perfect test of fitness this early in the season.
The Cause
As has been the case for a number of years now, 100% of the proceeds from the Huma Loop Licious Fat Bike Race go to support NMMBA’s expansive winter grooming efforts in Traverse City and across the region.
There’s a bit more to it, too! McLain Cycle and Fitness have offered to support an NMMBA Membership Drive!
Starting on race day, anyone purchasing or renewing a NMMBA membership can use the coupon code: MCLAIN2022 to save $10 on their membership. McLain Specialized will cover this amount on your behalf!
Show up and race, or use the coupon code any time between February 26 and March 31 to join or renew your membership, and your commitment to impeccable trails across Northern Michigan.
We’ll have a full race recap of the 2022 Huma Luma Licious Fat Bike Race, plus results from the first Clash of Clans race, up on the site by Sunday, February 27.
