Take a gander. This might be the last time you see Cav in the World Champion stripes. With two stage wins at the Tour of Britain, Cav’s farewell to the Stripes has been rather memorable. In spite of a tough crash early and coming up short on the second stage, he’s rallied to collect to wins in what might be his last event with Team Sky. All sides have confirmed that it will be in Cav’s best interest to head to greener pastures and to get away from the GC-oriented set-up on Britain’s all-star squad. And with the Valkenberg lurking on a lumpy World Championship course, Cav has no realistic chance of defending is jersey at the end of the month. To his credit, Cavendish topped Thor Hushovd as the most successful and brave wearer of the jersey since Paolo Bettini. A very thankful Chapeau to Cav on an amazing season, and happy travels wherever he ends up in 2013.
